Delfour

First of all, Delfour seems to be a Clava ring cairn (Burl, A., 1995). Although not much of the cairn material is available, on the north side some is still present.
Outside the inner and outer circle, one big outliner is standing at some 220o. In a picture one can see this outliner and some outer circle stones (the heap in the middle is modern!).

The outliner has been labeled sometimes as megalithic milk bottle (Burl, A, 1995) and depicted as such by Thom, A. 1967.
But looking at the real picture, ones gets no such 'anthropomorphic' ideas.

The stone material of the inner and outer circle can be seen in a drawing.
It looks like the stone materials are: slate or alkali feldspar granite or sandstone (only one). The slate and sandstone are not determined by an expert, so these names could be wrong! If needed, macro pictures of the stone materials are available.

The azimuth of the outliner with regard to the center of the cairn, was according to our measurements (using magn-true north2): 220o45' +/- 15'. The measured altitude is 2o10' +/- 5'.
According to Thom, A. (1967) the azimuth is: 219o (no accuracy known) and the altitude is 2o0' +/- 3'
